Where I am now: Fairfax, VA

Here we are in Virginia, first stop on our trip.
The UVa flag is for Miriam and Alice who are both students there.

We drove all day yesterday. This morning we started with a walk around
Evelyn’s neighborhood, where I loved the decorated mailboxes.

Summer flowers and busy bees.

And one great grasshopper from home, before we left.

Back in the days when I worked in publishing I visited George Mason a couple of times, which is in Fairfax. Never really spent much time looking around town, though. So I'm digging your pictures. Looks like a fun place. Thanks!

And so the next great adventure of Mae and Len begins. Loved seeing those very well done mail boxes. I've got grasshoppers in my yard and garden, too.

These are quite pretty mail boxes. Unfortunately on my road in Georgia vandals keep striking my mailbox, it’s almost broken. July went by quite fast as usual while watching the Tour de France live on TV. I see that you wrote 26 posts in July – bravo. I can hardly write one a month now. I’ll go back and read yours, they are always so interesting.

I saw my first grasshopper on the patio yesterday. He's probably hiding away in the coleus right now lol

I've never been somewhere where the mailboxes are decorated like that, but it would add so much to the street view :)

Nice idea to paint mailboxes. I have the exact same hybrid hibiscus.

I bravely painted my mailbox a few years ago, and, hey, it's not bad. I love seeing street art---murals or even fire hydrants or mailboxes---wherever I go.

I hope you have a lovely trip, Mae.
