Downtown Ann Arbor Murals

The Ann Arbor Art Association has sponsored 12 new murals on walls around downtown.
I've posted images of some of them before: here are two new ones that I visited today.
The artist's name is Midnight Olive.

I love the very colorful mazes on three of the large walls.

Along the adjacent wall is a black and white mural by Ann Lewis.
It continues on another wall by a different parking lot.

The 12 murals, including these, were completed between August and October of 2020. The Art Association website explains how these murals were funded: "To make this dream a reality, we crowdfunded throughout July of 2020 and the community raised over $50,000 to pay the artists and cover other mural expenses like equipment rentals, paint, permits etc. Once the goal was met, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) matched the $50,000—doubling the impact of all donations through their Public Spaces Community Places program." It's a great way for the artists to get work, and exposure.

How awesome. These are great finds, and I can almost feel your cold weather as you took these shots.

That's a fun mural. I like that is more of a pattern.

I'm intrigued by the mazes and would be holding up my finger trying to make my way through them if I were standing there. Cool!

What a wonderful way to create work for the artists and make a contribution to your area! It must be beautiful to be there. Thanks for sharing it..

I like that these murals are subtle and yet eye catching. Definitely art and design, not graffiti . And if I should ever decide to change my name, I think Midnight Olive would be a good one! )))
