November Meals and Kitchen Scenes

New in my kitchen: a tiny ceramic bowl that Evelyn made.
We are now back in Ann Arbor after 10 days of travel.

November Holidays

The highlight of November meals: Thanksgiving Dinner in Fairfax, VA.

A second highlight of November: potato pancakes for Chanukah.
also in Evelyn’s kitchen in Fairfax, VA.

New in My Ann Arbor Kitchen

A new omelet pan

New storage containers:
We discarded many old plastic ones.

A San Francisco potholder: gift from Evelyn’s trip.

A few foods from my Ann Arbor Kitchen.

“National Sandwich Day” — a cracker sandwich.

A cracker sandwich may not technically be a sandwich.
How about tuna sliders? Some people think that a bun cannot make a sandwich.
Sandwich purists insist that the outermost layers must be slices of bread.

Cranberry sauce to bring to Fairfax for Thanksgiving.

Pancakes on my griddle: I make these very often, using sourdough discard.

Len’s bread with cream cheese and smoked salmon to take to a party.

A few food highlights from our trip to the Outer Banks.

Grilled shrimp — the day boats were bringing in shrimp.

Crab cakes. We also had several kinds of fish in the lovely restaurants there.

Maybe the last picnic of 2021!

What a pretty little bowl and such unusual plates. I'm still using plastic for freezer storage. The tuna sliders look tasty, and homemade cranberry sauce. Yummm

That bench is in the perfect spot. I could sit there for hours :)

That bowl is beautiful! I really like the glass storage containers. And how lucky Miriam got to travel to London.

I think I'd better go have some breakfast after reading this! It all looks fabulous! And I love that you save Bonne Maman jars, too! I have a set of them, all stacked up, waiting for Christmas nuts to give away!

Fun stuff in your kitchen! Love that omelet pan -- and you're reminding me I haven't made an omelet in a long time. Too long. :-)

Wow, this was a fun post to read -- Wonderful to be with family on Thanksgiving (or/and any time of course). All of the food looks great! And I enjoyed the virtual travels! Brought back memories and of course (always) wishes , (We have been to all three of your refrig magnet places and loved them all. The wishes are for more time -- we'd love to go back to any of them. It's kind of funny that I remember Pea Island (and really the whole Outer Banks) every bit as fondly as I do London (and that's very fondly). And SF was a special Holiday getaway place for us years ago when we lived in Oregon!

I only use glass storage containers but they do break and need replacement. It was weird celebrating Chanukah immediately after Thanksgiving but we do are deep into latke making. Love your new ceramic bowl from Evelyn and all your delicious looking foods.

We got rid of all our plastic storage containers years ago and have never been sorry.

Love this post. Did I spy Bon Mamam jam jars for the cranberries? Great idea.
Could you tell me the brand of your griddle? I like it’s looks better than mine.

Sliders with buns are the best kind! I also use glass snap ware, I prefer it over plastic. All your food looks great, and the mosaic pattern on the pancakes is interesign!
