To Hatteras Island

We started at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge,
walked around to look at birds, and continued onward to Cape Hatteras.

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, built in the 19th century

One more beautiful sunset ended our birding.

Until I became a naturalist, I was almost unfamiliar with the idea of wildlife refuges. I had no idea that we have two in our county, and each is over 40,000 acres of space for wildlife. Pea Island is beautiful. I love seeing all the birds there.

Love your photos! We stayed overnight in Kitty Hawk a few years ago on our drive north a few years ago and I'm still sorry we didn't get down to the lighthouse. I'm hoping to spend some time on the Outer Banks on another trip though.

Yep. I definitely failed Geography in high school. Hated that class so much. Which means I had to Google Hatteras Island to see where that is. lol

Your pictures are amazing! Looks like a beautiful place to visit.
