Hello, California

We flew from Detroit to San Francisco this morning, and were in our hotel
before noon local time. For the first two nights, we are staying near the
airport, which is right by San Francisco Bay.

We sometimes enjoy the parking lot birds, such as these happy gulls.
We walked around the area while waiting to meet our tour group at 6 PM.

Best parking lot bird: a hummingbird.

We walked for an hour or so on the San Francisco Bay Trail -- this is a minuscule part of the 500 mile trail, which
encircles the whole Bay. We could see Mount Diablo (we think) very far across the bay.

The aroma of the dry vegetation really made me realize I'm in California.
It has a unique smell, as well as a unique look.
