Paper Dolls for Today

Searching online, I found copies of my favorite paper dolls from my childhood, and from other related vintage paper doll books. I'm thinking of them today, so here they are without much comment.

This is the paper doll book I had -- I cut out all the dolls & clothes.
The dolls are the figures on the cover. I do not remember the coloring book,
only the paper dolls and the magnificent clothing.

Needless to say, these were discarded many years ago.

Paper doll of Princess Elizabeth in 1939 -- obviously, I did not have this one!

Some cut-outs from the 1939 book.

What fabulous paper dolls. So glad you found these and even brought your own memories into the picture. Just wonderful images of when she was young.

I loved paper dolls when I was a kid. I would have been awed by this book.

I never played with paper dolls. Can you imagine if you had an intact book?

Beautiful. What a tribute.
Some years ago in the paper "flow" I found such dolls!

I have never drawn to the royals. I didn't feel sadness when Diana died nor did I feel a sense of loss at Elizabeth's passing. They don't strike me as interesting people, sadly, just ordinary folks who have been forced to play a role that really doesn't suit them. Or perhaps that's just me.

On the other hand, your post helps me remember the joy of paper dolls.

I'd forgotten all about paper dolls but I do recall having some. That would be worth something today.

What a cool find. I remember paper dolls from my childhood, I have to say I never really got into them, I think I preferred real dolls etc and found paper easy to rip.

Oh Mae.... Aren't these just so gorgeous. I LOVED LOVED LOVED playing with paper dolls when I was girl. I grew up when Diana was a princess and yes, I had a Diana paper doll. My Mom used to draw us clothes for our paper dolls and we'd spend hours coloring in the clothes and cutting it out and have our own fashion parade.

Gooooood memories.

Love to you,

This post reminded me of how much I loved paper dolls as a child! In addition to having paper doll books, a women's magazine my mother received often included a page of a paper doll with clothes.

Although I had barbie dolls growing up, paper dolls were more my speed. I loved my paper dolls and had so many. I used to make clothes for them. I never had these sets but they do bring back memories!
