The Celery Bog, West Lafayette, Indiana

This juvenile Great Horned Owl was hatched this winter
in the nest at the Celery Bog. We saw it Tuesday morning.
We always enjoy a visit to the Celery Bog when we visit here.

A flock of around 50 white pelicans arrived at the Celery Bog a few weeks ago
on their migration route — a first time for visiting in such numbers
.

I usually neglect robins. Maybe a mistake.

…. and starlings? Worthy of a look?

I’m quite fond of red-winged blackbirds and their songs.

I've been to West Lafayette a bunch, but never had a chance to explore the surrounding countryside. The Celery Bog looks like a fun place to visit. Such great photos -- thanks.

Hello Mae,
The Celery Bog looks like my kind of place to visit. Great bird sightings. I love the cute juvenile Owl. The White Pelicans are a favorite, pretty captures of the GB Heron, Cormorants, Robin and Red-winged Blackbird. Take care, enjoy your day!

That Horned Owl pic is wonderful. We saw a nest of them once a few years back ... and we watched them for hours!

That owl is beautiful. I was listening to a podcast yesterday and the topic made me think of you. It dealt with members of Congress and whether they should be allowed to trade on the stock market. The one area of concern was trades made February 2020 in Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson and PPE suppliers by members of Congress on the health Council. Very contentious indeed.

What an interesting name. I was expecting a lot of celery, not a lot of birds. Really lovely photos of various birds. I LOVED the photos of the pelicans.
