There and Back Again

Maryland: The Conowingo Dam on the Susquehanna River

Many eagles and other large birds frequent the area near the dam because the fishing is good.

A large flock of Black Vultures were on the grass.
They hardly noticed us.

Back Home in Ann Arbor: Spring Flowers at Last

Despite the flowers, it's still quite cold and cloudy here.

UPDATE: Who says it’s spring?

Wow, that is a lot of raptors all in one place. It feels like the seasons are off. We are still experiencing summer winds which have usually stopped by now.

Impressive dam. And that one bird (Vulture?) looks funny. Yay for spring-flowers!

I've never seen a vulture before. Scary bird. Loved the bald eagle, though. Nice that spring has arrived where you live, Mae.

We get large gatherings of vultures in the parks in Florida- That is an interesting close up of that bird- quite ugly looking.

How amazing to see so many large birds! And the Eagles are always amazing to see. I wish I could learn more of the wildflower names. They are blooming like crazy here too! Happy weekend!

Your flowers are way ahead of ours. Did you get snow last night?

Lovely pictures, as usual.
The only thing I miss about selling the lake place is seeing the large birds that hang out near the water.
The bald eagle and vulture close-ups are fantastic!

A dusting of overnight snow and very cold temps here have stopped spring flowers in their tracks for a few days, I think. Can't wait. Have a good week.

Hope you have a great week!

Loving the vultures! I've never seen so many at one time.

The dam is quite stately looking. Loving the creatures you found to snap! And, then, the snow came again...spring will get there eventually :)

That dam looks like a Paradise for the raptors and therefore also for the birders lucky enough to visit. ... I hope you finally have some Spring weather. I love seeing the early blooms, hope they survived the late snow.
