Havre de Grace, Maryland

After a morning watching eagles and vultures at the Conowingo  Dam on the Susquehanna River,
we chose a beautiful outdoor seafood restaurant in Havre de Grace, on the Chesapeake Bay.

We watched the Amtrak trains cross the bay bridge.

A fish sandwich and a diet Coke for Len.

My indulgent salad: spinach, bacon, egg, and lump crabmeat with creamy bacon dressing.
And a glass of water. Tracy also had a fish sandwich, and Arny had a crab cake. All good!

A Beautiful Waterfront

After lunch, we walked around the town, where we admired and photographed dozens of murals and other types of street art. That will be for another blog post. Along the water is a beautiful boardwalk, with documentation on the destruction of the town (then 60 houses in size) during the War of 1812.

A Very Amusing Retro Shop

A large selection of vintage Corningware, just like what I have at home.
Tracy bought me a replacement for one that I’ve worn out!

“Just Retro”

Amazing finds if you are a collector!

The food looks delicious - I like all kinds of seafood and that restaurant seems to serve a great variety of it. Your salad looks great - I'm getting hungry. I also like places where you can learn about the history, and what a beautiful lighthouse!

I wish I could find a shop like that with Corning Ware. I have broken some and really miss them, and they are expensive on Ebay or anywhere else that might have them. That is my kind of salad! :) Happy T Day.

Your salad looks fabulous. I am envious. We went to our favorite fish monger this weekend who has no crabmeat at all right now.
The pictures are gorgeous and I would love to browse the retro shop. I am pretty sure I would not be content to just browse though.

I enjoyed reading about Havre de Grace and seeing the light house. How sad for the town, but it seems to have recovered nicely in the past 200 plus years.

What a beautiful meal you had. Your salad looks wonderful and paired with water, sounds perfect. Thanks for sharing this wonderful day out at Havre de Grace and your meals and drinks with us for T this Tuesday, dear Mae.

Hello Mae,
You were in my area, we have visited Conowingo and Havre De Grace many times.
I like the lighthouse, it is cute and easy to see. The waterfront restaurants and walkway are wonderful. I hope you were able to see some Bald Eagles.
Have a great day and happy week ahead.

What a gorgeous little town! I've always heard that part of the county is beautiful. I have to say that I'd be taking home that corningware!

What a salad!

And what a beautiful day.

I'd love to pop into that antique store.

I'd be in trouble in that store. For that matter, I'd be in trouble at the restaurant -- it all looks delicious. Adore seafood and that salad looks to die for. And all that glorious open water. What a great trip!

At first, I thought you went on a picnic. Still a little too chilly here for al fresco dining. Looks like you not only had good eats, but gorgeous weather and view, too. I have 3 of my mother's cornflower blue corning ware casserole dishes with lids. I love them. Wish I lived closer to this shop, I'd buy more pieces. Happy T Day

Yes, thanks for reminding me, it was a town that saw action in the War of 1812. Wow.
