In Our Town

In the Greenhouse

After an outdoor walk at Matthaei Botanical Gardens, we spent a little time in the
greenhouse, especially looking at the spring blossoms in the cactus section.

Such a horrific situation in Ukraine.

Nice greenhouse blooms. We are still at 32°F as I write this and the wind is coming from the North. I feel like I am having such a late start this year on my garden.

I have been trying to read the news about TheUkraine rather than watching it on TV. It is horrifying and my heart breaks for those who are going through it.

The catus blooms are so pretty. I wish we had a botanical garden nearby. When i lived outside of Philly I visited the botanicals.

Ukraine is dominating Twitter right now and that's where i get much of my news sources. In some ways I'm glad we don't have the tv feed as I would probably be glued it.

Cactus can have some of the prettiest blooms. I lived in the high desert of NM years ago and saw some beauties!

Beautiful cactus blooms, they are very pretty. What's happening to Ukraine is barbaric and sad. Innocent people being slaughtered for nothing because of a lunatic.

When I saw cacti in Egypt it was fascinating to watch Chiffchaffs ( a European warbler) sipping the nectar from the cactus flowers. No chance of seeing that here in Northern England.

I know. My mind, too. But they all are beautiful. I hope one day Ukraine will find its beauty again.

The cactus blooms are beautiful. I went to the desert in the spring several times and felt very gald to see some of them. Such beauties.
The situation in Ukraine is heart breaking and I'm very worried.

Beautiful cacti, and such stunning organisms on the mural. These are both great and I was thrilled you shared them with us.

I will continue to grieve for the Ukrainians. The news gets more dire each passing day.

Beautiful cacti blooms in the greenhouse.
What a lovely and unusual mural Mae. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals.
It's appalling and sad what is happening in Ukraine, I hope someone stops that Russian lunatic pretty soon!!

Thanks for sharing these gorgeous cacti blooms.
I try to hand on to any little sign of beauty, with what's going on for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine.
I'm Orthodox and have both Russian and Ukrainian friends, so much pain.

Yep, I expect we are all looking for distractions from what is going on in the world in order to stay sane. Being out in nature tops my list but getting there means the use of gasoline. And so even that keeps my mind on what I'm trying to forget for a brief moment. There's not much I can do, but using less fuel seems like a small sacrifice I should make.
