In My Garden

June is a good month for flowers.
I hope a few of these keep blooming for a bit longer.

They are all so lovely Mae -- Hyacinths are one of my very favorite flowering shrubs -- they are so pretty in all their stages -- and so interesting how they bloom in different colors depending on the soil.

Dear Mae, thank you very much for this fascinating article on Dubuffet which is quite accurate on the whole, even if it does not avoid some journalistic stereotypes, especially about his activity as a wine merchant. It allowed me to see that Henri Michaux's Monsieur Plume could be translated as Mister Pen, whereas I always thought of him as Mister Feather, for the lightness of the character, who only reacts to situations in which he doesn't carry much weight. But as he is a being of pure fiction, and of literature, this translation is plausible. Coming back to Dubuffet, I have a boundless admiration for him, and even more for his collection of Art Brut. The Lausanne museum, which has received all these works of deviants that France had in its time considered with disdain, is one of the most marvellous that exists. As for Dubuffet's own work, which is so varied, it still shocks people in France, because of its radicalism, whereas Basquiat, for his part, is very well known to the general public. I thank you for this attention which touches me a lot. I hope that everything is going well for you and your family, and that if you have the opportunity to come to Paris, we can find the time to meet. Anyway, the flowers in your garden are very beautiful :-)

They're lovely, Mae. I think a lot will continue -- not the day lilies, though. They seem to have a very short season!
