Some people say it's hard to find postcards now. It's true that they are available in fewer places than in the past, but if you watch for them, there are quite a few around, especially the currently popular Art Deco types like my "Lake Ontario" (from a local Ann Arbor framing shop) and "Ohio" (from a rest stop on the turnpike). The demise of postcards is an ongoing reason for writers to wring their hands -- see this post: "Are Postcards Endangered?" which I wrote in 2008.

You were able to get out and about and find postcards that were available where you traveled. Finding them in my city was impossible, though.
I always sent postcards to friends when I traveled, but I also sent one to myself documenting the day. Sometimes I would arrive home before an errant postcard arrived, but they always seemed to turn up over time. Great way to document a trip along with photos.
You got some beautiful postcards. LOVED them all, and like you, I was impressed with the Gaussian curve from Iris's postcard.

I used to write on a postcard from every place we visited and sent them to my niece. I shall start doing that for Hannah soon.

Postcards really aren't as available as they used to be, are they? Too bad -- although we all try to take wonderful travel photos, most of the time we're there at peak conditions (light is wrong, season is wrong, time of day is wrong, etc etc). Good postcards are, well, picture perfect. :-)
Oh my goodness! How lovely! I have to look around our little town and see if there are still any shops selling selling postcards. I remember we had a holder with all the postcards that were send to my parents when I was a child. I can actually remember sending some to my friends in my senior year!

I love postcards and have quite a collection of vintage cards. I love the Ohio card here best, but that first Tucson is pretty dramatic!

I enjoy postcards and like all of these ... we have liked going to Tucson and Lake Ontario, where we sailed. Keep up with these postcards.
