Welcome to Virginia.

On the way to Fairfax: a mural in the Oakmont-Plum Rest Area, Pennsylvania Turnpike.
We drove here yesterday.

Brood X Cicadas in Evelyn’s Yard

The cicadas here are at a more advanced step in their elaborate life-cycle than those in Michigan.
Soon they will lay their eggs and die, while the new generation go underground for another 17 years.

Wow the cicadas are huge or maybe it is the photo. Either way I am glad they are not here. Great mural.

I haven't seen any here in New Hampshire. But that's OK. They are kind of creepy looking, even for me someone who enjoys bugs.

What a fabulous mural. You are really trekking all over the country now that you have your vaccines. I like this Americana style mural. The PA turnpike had some of the best rest areas around.

Those cicadas are amazing. Somehow they never made it to the midwest, but they sure took over the eastern parts of the country. I fear I've missed a post or two in the past two days.

Love the mural. And the sound of the insects. But please... don´t come near me, LOL. Brrr.

Great mural -- and what a fascinating cicada. I've yet to see them in Lansing area.

Hello,

I love the mural! We are seeing and hearing thousands of cicadas, they do look creepy up close. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend!

I always enjoy the annual appearance of cicadas although I know many have the exact opposite reaction. And it is a food bounty for so many other creatures.

I haven't seen one of these in years but there's been a lot about them on the news and weather. How interesting!

I see cicada exoskeletons around here all the time, and the sound of the cicada is the sound of summer, but I don't think I've ever seen a live cicada.

That's what we call naïve art. I really like that.

they look strange to me. But o course, we don´t have any so I have only seen them when traveling. I like the look of their wings. :)
