Yesterday outside our hotel: constant rain all morning. Birding looked like no fun. |

After a while, we headed for the San Diego Museum of Art and the several other museums in Balboa Park. |

Ceramics with dragon images are always a favorite of ours. We spent most of our visit in the Asian collections of the museum. |

A sculpture of an Apsara from 18th century Japan. An Apsara is a flying celestial being in the Buddhist tradition. |

Diego Rivera: “The Hands of Dr. Moore.” This painting was on view in a fascinating exhibit about identity. |

We had lunch in the Artifact restaurant of the Mingei International Museum. The menu is international: this is gnocci with several garnishes and it was delicious. |

Lunch in that setting looks great. Sometimes I like watching movies with famous places that I've been to overseas. it brings back a lot of nostalgia for those places.
Such a shame you had rain, but glad you found somewhere really interesting to go, I love checking out local museums and discovering the history of an area xxx
What a pretty museum. We have been to San Diego and biked the harbor area about 6 years ago, which was fun. But now think we should've also seen the museum.
Hello,
Exploring the museum is a great activity for a rainy day. I like the Apsara is a cool sculpture. The lunch looks delicious. I hope the weather has improved, the birds are waiting for you. Take care, have a great day and a happy new week.
Looks like a wonderful day
Sorry about the rain, but it looks like you made resourceful use of your time. I loved the undulating form of the Apsara... and those gnocchi looked delicious! Here's hoping the weather improves and you are able to do more bird watching soon.
Looks like a perfect way to enjoy a rainy day!
That sounds like a perfect rainy day activity!
