Our Week In Food

Continuing to try Ethiopian recipes.
Above: shiro, recipe by Samin Nosrat (recipe link)
In casserole dish: Chicken in Tej Sauce with Oranges.
From Ethiopia by Yohanis Gebreysus.

Lunch without a recipe:
Fried mushrooms and toasted cheese on English Muffins.

Curried cauliflower with green peas (recipe inspiration)

Outdoor lunch: chips, salsa, salad.

First time grilling in 2022.
Len grilled a sliced eggplant, served with fresh tomatoes and cheese.
Side dish: couscous with parmesan and herbs.

And we are growing herbs for summer meals.

Hello Mae,
Your meals look delicious. I love eggplant, it looks yummy with the tomatoes and cheese. The chicken with oranges looks delicious too. Thanks for sharing the links. Have a great weekend.

Interesting. I have to say that I am not at all familiar with Ethiopian cuisine but it sounds like something I should look into . Why not? I love your little herb garden and I am anxious to get back to Pennsylvania to get some plants and start mine. We leave Florida tomorrow to return for the summer.

I think about growing herbs but then I'm always afraid I am going to kill them!

Those Ethiopian dishes look scrumptious. I have had chicken with very hot Ethiopian red pepper powder. Almost too hot to eat!

Can I come and live at your house? lol All of your meals look and sound amazing. I'm especially interested in your experiments with Ethiopian food, including Chicken in Tej Sauce with Oranges.

And who wouldn't enjoy eating a little bit more if you are eating in that beautiful yard?

You look to have eaten well this month! I love exploring new cuisines, and Ethiopia is one where the book definitely needs to be opened. Marcus Samuelsson has been staring at me from the cookbook shelf for awhile now, with so many intriguing Ethiopian recipes.
