Spice!

New from the wonderful Penzey’s spice company,
thanks to my brother and sister-in-law who gave me a gift certificate!
Berbere spice blend and fenugreek are new to me, but I have plans.

My spice shelf is now reorganized, and I have disposed of old, empty, and duplicate containers.
There are approximately 75 spices in my pantry (you can’t see them all here).

All my spices and herbs are on a little carousel on a pantry closet shelf. You have so many!

It looks like a lot of spices, but I really use them, some very often, some only rarely. But when a recipe calls for a spice, I like to have it.

It looks like you have an excellent spice cabinet. I keep rosemary and basil in my garden year-round, and a small spice rack in the cupboard, and the rest I buy as I need them. Your cabinet allows you to vary your taste combinations.

That's a lot of spices but it must be nice to have them in one place and organized.

oh wow! So much flavor on these shelves. I need chives and they are not available anywhere I've found locally (Denver area) as well as green onions. Nope. None.
the dried basil I got from whole foods organic recently tastes very weird... like anise sort of. Do you know about that kind of thing?

Penzey's spice company has great mail-order spices, and if you buy a minimum amount there's free shipping. They have a website (penzeys.com). I'm recommending them as a customer -- I don't have any interest in promoting them, never took anything from them!

I just checked on their website: chives are $2.95 for a small jar, and there are a couple of choices for basil. The free shipping limit is you have to order at least $39.95 (but I think there are sometimes better deals).

You asked what I know. That's it!

Have fun! I use fenugreek often so I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

I have a lot of spices also, and I use them regularly. A Penzey's gift certificate is a wonderful gift. I love that store. I bought some Berbere seasoning but have not yet tried but one Ethopian recipe. I want to learn to make the wonderful bread they use as a utensil.

Very nice indeed.

Penzey's is great but if you need the basics, you can't beat the prices at Trader Joe's. And I love their Everything But the Bagel seasoning!

I, too, have ALL THE SPICES. Drives me crazy when I come across a new, exciting recipe, only to find that there's a spice I need and don't have even though I have a billion different spices in the cabinet. lol

I love Penzey's spices! They are located in the same state I live in. Your spice cabinet looks well stocked. Have fun trying your new spices!

What a great assortment of spices! I have a lot but I don't think I have as many as you do.
