Hungry red-winged blackbird? |
Walking along the paths near Barton Pond and visiting various nature areas, we don't see too many people -- except on weekends, when we stay home! Mostly the weekday walkers maintain a safe distance and many wear face coverings.

Stunning photos, what a lovely place to walk. I remember my father loving the red winged blackbirds when they visited. He was always pointing out birds to me when we walked.
Those are both great shots! Love the bird with the worm and of course cranes are so elegant!
We walk our neighborhood every day. We do see people (we've all gotten pretty good at stepping into the street to maintain distancing), but not nearly as manner as we did a couple of months ago. But it's hot, which doesn't deter us, but I can understand how it would others. Fun pictures -- thanks.
Your photos are wonderful. I first saw sand hill cranes in Nebraska as they stopped along the Platte River in Kearney, Nebraska. So glad to see some stayed behind and found their way to your area of the country.
It is mandatory to wear a mask in public here. Thanks for sharing more of your home town.
are those cranes as huge as they look in the photo? a bit scary really!
Beautiful shots indeed, though I´m glad I´m not a bird, I might starve ;-)
Here most people wear the mask only inside, which I think is OK - if you keep the proper+ distance. Sadly too many don´t and I find myself on the cycle path or street often hence.
Just yesterday such an idiot coughed without covering, hope it was only smoker-coughing.
@Sherry -- yes, the cranes are very big birds. In one nearby park they have become somewhat tame, and will stand on the path where people are walking, so I have been pretty close. They just about look at me eyeball to eyeball.
Oh you have sandhill cranes. That is so cool!
Excellent images!
Hello,
Your little world is beautiful. I love the views in the first photo and the Sandhill Cranes are pretty. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
That Blackkbird has certainly caught a juicey meal. Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend.
Fantastic photos!
Hello,
The Red-winged Blackbird does have a tasty treat. I love the Sandhill Cranes. Great collection of photos. Thank you for linking up your post. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy weekend! PS, thank you for the visit and comment.
Oh wow, look at all those cranes!
What a beautiful flock of Sandhills! And I love seeing the Blackbird with a big fat caterpillar in it's beak. It's fun when you get home with photos and know you captured something so amazing! Enjoy your weekend. (I hiked this morning and there was not a single other person there. I'm glad we have trails that aren't busy here)
loved to see all the cranes. And the blackbird :)
