In the traumatic aftermath of reactions to the brutal death of George Floyd, street artists and muralists around the world have created many murals in his memory. Above is the collage of such works, generated by a google search.
The worldwide reaction to this symbol of injustice in the US is amazing to me. For example, a Syrian artist, Aziz Asmar, painted a tribute on a destroyed building in the once-peaceful rural town where he lives. From Time Magazine, "In Solidarity and as a Symbol of Global Injustices, a Syrian Artist Painted a Mural to George Floyd on a Bombed Idlib Building" --
"Asmar, who runs art workshops for children in Idlib, Syria’s last rebel-held enclave, expressed his pain the best way he knew. On the remnants of what he says was a family’s kitchen before regime airstrikes ripped through the building, Asmar and two friends painted an eight-foot-high mural to show solidarity with those grieving in the United States."

This is very touching and heart-warming Mae. To see how people not just in America but around the world makes use of their voices whether verbal or non-verbal, to fight for the oppressed, shows how 'human' a lot of 'people' still are. Sending you hugs this new week Mae!

My FIL was a police officer in Germany in the 70´s - different times.
He had but a stick being in the Olympic Games in 1972. I had no chance to talk to him on this, but I will.
The first ones look like they are from the same artist I featured in today's murals. I saw these on X3MEX's Instagram before it went dark. I am not on Instagram, so these were basically all I saw.
It's amazing how people all over the world are sharing their art because George Floyd somehow changed how we look at these tragedies.

I've seen tributes to George Floyd being painted all over the world. The solidarity is great and I hope that things change quickly.
It is interesting and heartening to see the support of the issues George Floyd has brought (again) to light being shared worldwide -- and so creatively.
Street art is an opportunity for protest as well as self expression, and far less harmful than throwing chairs through windows.
