A quiet walk in the Matthaei Botanical Gardens this morning was a pleasant way to keep our minds off of the current worldwide pandemic and all the suffering it's causing, directly and indirectly. We saw very few people, none at all close to us. I was especially happy to see my first daffodils of the spring. Len took a number of bird photos -- nothing exotic or unusual, just a few beautiful local birds. We feel lucky to be able to do this, and lucky so far in many other ways.
A bluebird on a stump. We were hoping to see these colorful permanent residents of the Garden. |
Swallows on a nesting box. |
All buildings belonging to the University of Michigan are closed, including the greenhouses and some of the more formal gardens here. |

It seems like this era of the scary virus has already lasted forever and still we're told it's only just begun.
The natural world consoles us, if not intentionally.
How lucky you are too be able to go for a walk in nature. Sadly, we aren't allowed to do this.
It's a bless that one can still go out and enjoy a walk in the nature. Happy Sunday, Mae!
I bet I haven't been to Matthei in 30 years. It looks just beautiful and I so loved the bluebird photo. Someday I'll see one for real. It looks like a wonderful walk, Mae.
