This afternoon from 3 until 5 PM we toured the Reijks Museum in Amsterdam, where we mainly concentrated on the great masters from the Dutch Golden Age. Rembrandt and Vermeer.are the most famous, but many others are also very fascinating. Here are just a few images that I particularly liked
|
Rembrandt’s “The Night Watch” is sheltered in a huge glass cage, and it’s being restored, so the crowds cant’ see it very well. This boy looked a bit underwhelmed! |
|
The most famous Vermeer in the museum. |

These happy drinkers appeal to me. The next image shows how they are sitting in a garden. |

I think a lot of art if not all, will soon be behind glass to protect it from protesters. Your hotel looks lovely.
Hello,
The hotel does look very nice. The museum visit looks wonderful, beautiful art work. I would like to visit Amsterdam. Take care, enjoy your day.
I'm going to "assume" this is a T Tuesday post in addition to sharing the beauty of the museum in Amsterdam. Your hotel is gorgeous, but the museum photos are what struck me as great. So many of these I was familiar with having seen them in art books over the years. The bird photos, though possibly not as famous, were also beautiful. Thanks for sharing these wonderful drinks with us for T this week, dear Mae.
Lovely! I was fortunate enough to visit Amsterdam in the 1970's and loved the museums and canals.
I loved the Rijksmuseum and you are sharing many of my favorites! Oh, Vermeer! Le Sigh! And all that wonderful Rembrandt. The bird paintings are fabulous, too!
Amsterdam is a wonderful place, and the Rijksmuseum is fabulous. I have spent many very hours there. Continue to enjoy your trip, hugs, Valerie
"underwhelmed" ;-)
Well, art should be behind glass until they get those kids under control that glue and smash everything...
Lots of drinks into today's T day post. Amsterdam is high on my Europe list as it's one country I haven't visited. I will put the Rijksmuseum on my list for certain. Enjoy your trip Mae.
An actual signature is as exciting to see as the art it's a part of. There's something about seeing works like this even if undergoing restoration and/or behind glass.
Happy T Tuesday!
What a nice looking hotel. The museum is breathtaking. Have a very nice day today.
How exciting to be in Amsterdam, it looks like you're having a wonderful time ☺️. Sending you Happy T Day wishes and enjoy your travels! Hugs Jo x
oh how fun you are in Holland, enjoy Amsterdam, it's a great city to explore and lots of museums. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
Thanks Mae! Enjoyed seeing all the beautiful art! Happy T day! Hugs! deb
The Rijksmuseum is such a wonderful place to visit.
The paintings of people make the people feel alive, moving, like they could step right out of the painting. That water is being poured...forever...
