Murals in San Cristobal, Galapagos
Going back a few months, I wanted to share some street scenes from Puerto Ayora in the Galapagos — photos taken from the moving bus in which we rode through the small city, so I have no information about the locations. Our ship’s destinations were almost all uninhabited islands — we visited only this one inhabited area, which is the location of the Darwin Research Station. I have not yet posted all of these photos, so now I’m sharing this look around the very obscure town with Sami’s Monday Murals. The rest of this post after the Galapagos images contains a variety of photo memories.
In the Detroit Institute of Arts
Behind a “Do Not Enter” sign at the DIA: a mural hidden by cleaning equipment. It appears that this was once a classroom of some kind behind the momentarily open door. |
Salt Springs Brewery, Saline, Michigan
Katrina and Jason’s wedding site intrigues me, and I hope to go back for dinner sometime. Shared with Elizabeth’s Tea Party. (Combination of my photos & web search.) |

Why paint over a mural so quickly?
Lovely captures of wonderful murals!
Great murals.
Very sad Harris´mural was painted over so quickly.
Yes, the fall of the wall was big in the news again. I remember that day very well. My then-boyfriend had to help (he was a firefighter, too). We could hardly believe what was happening.
Then Trabis all over (we live(d) near the border). And then three, now four wonderful people I would not have in my life if this had not happened.
Yet now we are in danger the border might come back or we all go to "USSR"...
So sad about Kamala Harris's mural. So sad about her loss. So sad about the world. Our world!
Quiet a variety of murals. What a pity Kamala's mural wasn't kept, she's still a remarkable woman. I was on a plane out of Germany, after having lived there for almost 6 years, when the pilot announced the Berlin wall had fallen! It was an emotional time with everybody clapping and hugging each other.
Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Mae
These are quite beautiful. I hadn't heard about the Kamala mural -- it doesn't surprise me but it makes me very sad. Dinner at Carol's looks fabulous!
Amazing mural works, Loved the post.
So disappointing about the election. What a travesty. Keep up her mural !!
Beautiful murals. I find most murals in and around ocean towns. Must be something about sea air that brings out the best in artists.
A shame about the mural.
I hope they don't paint Trump's face over the Harris face. :) And your friend Carol's table looks so professional. Dinner looks delicious. I remember that brewery when you posted it, and I love that building. At first I thought it was an old church, but the other wall looks like a castle. Have a great T day and week ahead. hugs-Erika
You found some incredible murals and some that contained a bit of graffiti. Why would they paint over Harris's mural, even though she lost the election? It's not like it was a political ad.
I loved seeing the various beers lined up that came from Salt Springs Brewery. My friends usually give me the Stout when they order a multi beer like you showed.
I want to be invited to Carol's for dinner. The food and the soup look so delicious. I can see you started with water and left the wine glasses empty. Thanks for sharing the food and drink with us for T this nearly Tuesday, Mae.
Beautiful collection of murals! Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.
The world of politics is cruel and fame is fleeting. I suspect that after Trump’s inauguration Kamala will be an intelligent, classy, upstanding version of Mike Pence, gone from public life and forgotten by most.
love the murals, especially the arch with the tree on it. Wondering what kind of soup you had, it looks like pumpkin. Happy T day!
Painting over Ms Harris' mural. Typical of white washing history. Happy T Day
Perhaps the mural will be replaced by one like the Australian mural by Heesco of “Trump adorned with a menacing set of devil horns.”
I love the murals in the little town on the Galapagos islands. Not sophisticated, but from the people.
es, shame about Kamala's mural being painted over. She put up a good fight and should not be erased from history.
Carol's dinner table looks beautifully set. And the meal looks yummy. It looks like pumpkin soup, and lovely fresh bread rolls, a cheese platter nd some other bits and bobs.
I like the look of the selection of beers you showed. Interesting.
Yes, I remember when the wall came down. But even more I remember every now and then a little conflict or or skirmish or someone shot who was trying to escape. tragic.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
