Big Morongo Canyon Preserve
|
Saturday morning we drove to Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, down the mountain from Joshua Tree NP. We could see the unusual sight of snow-capped mountains, which received a huge snowfall last week. |
|
A stature of a mountain lion watches over the feeders, where several people were looking at the birds. After watching for a while, we followed several of the beautiful trails around the preserve. |
|
Recently, Cassin’s Finch has been at the feeders for the first time on record.— perhaps driven down from the mountains by the snow. |
|
Opportunists always — squirrels were gathering fallen birdseed in their cheek pouches. |

We revisited the most beautiful loop road through Joshua Tree on the way back to our hotel. |

My son just said he wants to get a squirrel as a pet after seeing the pics and I was like 'yeah, no thanks,' lol.@theglobaldig.blogspot.com
Beautiful territory, my friend. You home yet?
I haven't been to that canyon, is it around Joshua Tree. At least you didn't go into the San Bernadino Mountain area where they received so much snow. Hugs-Erika
Lovely photos that bring back many memories of similar trips I took. Wonderful bird pictures, something I seldom get to photograph.
We need to walk that loop in Joshua Tree. We'll be flying into Palm Springs in April but will be going to visit my parents & the beach. OC.
