Our bus tour of Papeete, Tahiti -- the principal city of French Polynesia -- went past a great deal of street art. |
Among the many traditional island symbols in the design, you can see a little international radiation symbol on the sleeping girl's back, and just above her knees you can see a mushroom cloud. As I've written, the French conducted nuclear tests there from 1966 to 1996, which polluted the islands with radioactive fallout.

That’s a talent, the street art is fabulous.
Thanks for your tip about parchment paper for getting pizza on the grill. We have a Raichlan grill book, not sure which one but I’ll look.
What a coincidence!
My post this week is also about murals in Papeete.

I can imagine why there's a stamp made. Beautiful
Very beautiful!
The first two murals are stunning. I can see why the people love the first one so much - a beauty with subtle messages
You found some pretty murals there.
Beautiful murals Mae, specially the first and second mural.
I like the symbols incorporated in that first mural. Thanks for participating Mae :)
A lot of great murals. You don't expect that. Wonder what Paul Gauguin would have said.
I added a picture of Zunge in his "environment" in our home :-)
Those are both impressive and powerful murals.
Really digging that first piece.
