Say this author’s name (pseudonym) fast and you hear “Edgar Allen Poe.” He’s actually a Japanese imitator of early European mysteries, and lived from 1894-1965.

The tales are truly creepy!
There’s a new book in the “Dark Materials” series by Philip Pullman. I read this short story about the characters in the series, but I’m not sure what I’ll read next.

A Year Ago Today
On December 12, 2024, we were birding in Tobago. We enjoyed seeing the Trinidad Motmot, found only in Trinidad and Tobago.
The day ended with an exotic drink on the beautiful veranda of our seaside hotel.

Hello Mae,
Your latkes look delicious. I would love to see those birds and visit Tobago. Alice's tomato looks delicious too.
Take care, enjoy your day and happy weekend.
I love latkes with applesauce and I haven't had them in a very long time. I read some Japanese Ghost stories earlier this fall and they were scary and creepy, but good if you like that kind of thing. That cover on the second book is pretty creepy too. Happy weekend ahead Mae. hugs-Erika
Hello Mae,
Thanks for sharing the book reviews. The food and the drinks all look delicious. I would be thrilled to see the Motmot.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
That Rampo cover is a bit freaky like the tales.
That tomato looks so yummy!
Love the name Slurping Turtle for a restaurant :) All your food looks good, as usual.
Cute birds, love the water.
That drink looks very good -- perhaps a pina colada? You had a great trip last year .... I hadn't seen so many of those birds you photographed.
We had latkes (probably I am misspelling the word) at school every year, and they were delicious.
I am very curious about The Book of Dust. Several of my sixth grade students read Pullman's Dark Materials series and loved it.
Interesting post. I love Latkes with applesauce and sour cream.
Lovely mix of creepy tales, great food, and exotic travel memories!
