A Week in Ann Arbor

A pleasant place to sit in the park for an hour.

A mural from Alice.

Indescribable Garden Art

In a neighbor’s garden

Trying Recipes from the New York Times

Ingredients for cauliflower recipe — I added red bell pepper to the dish.

Not Reading Much

I read one story from this collection.

The locale of the story I read, which took place in the mid-19th century.

My next reading project, starting slowly: The Light Eaters.

Home Improvement

Our old shower door was not sliding any more. We had a new one installed.

A Great Evening With Carol and Nat

Each dish featured different herbs from Carol’s garden.

Delicious dinner rolls using a recipe from a popular local restaurant— plus herbs.

Salmon with sorrel, a wonderful and unusual herb.

Magnificent roasted peppers.

Carol's herbal dinner is a wonderful idea! If anything would ever tempt me to start a garden again, it would be to have a ready supply of herbs. We use NYT recipes often and I had saved both of those you show, but haven't cooked either yet. Trying to do mostly vegetarian (but not all) so that's what I look for on the site.

I miss my porch swing. The butterfly mural is lovely. That "garden art" is gross. The cauliflower meal looks super. I bought a sorrel plant one year. It reminded me of sour lemons. It didn't overwinter well inside.

Hello Mae,
I love the pretty butterfly mural. Your food images all look delicious. The dinner rolls look yummy and I love roasted veggies. I like your new shower door. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.

Every meal at your house is a banquet. I'd love to try some of the foods that you and your husband prepare, and I'd especially like to sample the breads. I enjoyed The Light Eaters. Reading that book reminded me to look to nature for understanding of and consolation in our world.

I love a porch swing but I'm always afraid a spider will be lurking somewhere on it so I can't.

I'd like to have a swing like that in my backyard.
I love the mural and the garden art, LOL!
We've bought a few things to start a remodel of our house.
All the food looks yummy!
I'll be looking for your review of the Yamada book.

Our swing is in the living room as the balcony is too small - but that way we can use it all year round.
Great art but oh-weee.... you leave me all hungry here!!!!

The butterfly mural is beautiful! Those toes are a weird garden ornament, lol. Don't think I ever even came across sorrel it in the shops. I like roasted peppers and roasted cauliflower. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Mae.

I am interested in reading some Japanese crime. How are you finding The Meiji Guillotine Murders? Love your neighbour's garden sculpture, although I wouldn't want it in my own garden.
