This is a retrospective post, looking back at our December trip.
On our birding trip to Trinidad, we spent the last two days in a remote part of the island looking for a rare bird, the piping guan. In this post I am showing a few scenes from our stay at a beautiful seaside hotel where people go to relax, to watch the turtles that breed on the beaches (but not in December), and to watch birds.
First, a mural on the local elementary school.
A hotel on the far side of the island
We stayed here, far from the populated areas of the island, because we wanted to see the very rare bird, the piping guan. This is a follow up to show the hotel. I’ve shown this image before. |
Beautiful tropical wood on the door of the hotel reception. |
More wood. |

The wood in the place looks beautiful!
Wonderful post!
What a beautiful hotel and view of the beach! Wow. That's gorgeous.
Hi there Mae, thank you for your comment at my blog, I like the mural in your photos, it's alot more creative than what I can do or not do.
ah oui c'est très beau et très paisible semble-t-il
Looks like a very nice resort. Congrats on your rare bird sighting.
Great photos! I meant to ask you did you see the Scarlet Ibis while you were in Trinidad? Take care, have a wonderful week!
@eileen: I skipped the day that the group saw the Scarlet Ibis. Len saw and photographed a huge flock of them!
That hotel looks amazing -- and so do the birds!
Lovely capture of the rare bird sighting, the island and the mural!
Cute mural and such a beautiful place!
Looks like a beautiful resort and room. Lovely that you got to see the rare bird. The mural is very cute. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Mae.
Aaaah ... that view from your hotel. And the bird. Lucky you!
It's so wonderful that you have been doing a lot of travel. Looks like a beautiful beach resort. Len got great shots of thet piping guan.
@Judee (GlutenFree) — thanks for the comment it really is beautiful — actually the two photos of the bird in the post are my shots. Both Len and I take bird photos with a long-lens camera that zooms in closer than an iPhone.
