We spent the day at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, which is about a 40 minute drive from the city. I was especially happy to get to see the duck-billed platypus in its very dark enclosure to accommodate the fact that it's nocturnal. It was swimming next to the glass that separates it from the viewers, so I could see it very clearly, but photography would be impossible. The following photos were taken with my iPhone. My camera photos will be for another day.

The San Diego zoo is wonderful. I was there back in the 1980's, I am sure it has changed a lot. Great photos, it is nice to see the wild birds in the park. The Road Runner is a favorite.

Read through your last few posts, and thanks for the memories. We did a lot of the same things when we visited years ago. I love the wild animal park, and Museum Hill. You make me want to go back.

Ahh, good zoos can be great! I don't think I've ever seen a duck-billed platypus, but I'd love to. They're bizarre creatures, but so lovely!

I LOVE Safari Parks! My son and I went to two a few months ago. I want to go to a safari in Africa some day.

The San Diego Zoo is such a great place! Haven't been there since the late 80s and would love to visit again. My daughter and her husband are in SD now will get there sometime this week/

I've always heard that this is one of the best zoos in the country. Thank you for sharing these animal photos with us. We often see roadrunners when we visit East Texas. I hope some day to make it to San Diego.
