A Pleasant Evening with Friends

We invited four friends for a simple meal of wine, bread, and a few other things yesterday evening.
At the left corner, you can see the deviled eggs that our friend Mary brought.
Carol brought some apple squares (Dorie Greenspan recipe).

The conversation was too good to interrupt with a lot of photos.
But I took a few photos before the guests arrived.

Most of the work at our house was done by Len, who made two loaves of bread@

The large loaf was a “miche” — it weighed around 2 kilos.
The small loaf was a pepper-flavored white bread, pain de mie.

What a fabulous loaf of bread. It reminds me of Poilaine. It sounds like a wonderful evening -- good friends, conversation, companionship. Can't beat it.

It's always nice to get together with friends. We had a meal together with 14 friends last Friday night at someone's home and 6 of them now have Covid. It's going around again! But thankfully no one is too bad. My husband is one of them.

I watched a favorite PBS show that showed how t make that bread. It isn't simple or easy at all. Beautiful bread and great wine. It's definitely a great party starter. Thanks for sharing with us for T this Tuesday. dear Mae.
