Murals and Signs around Cape May

Inside the bird-watching blind at the Nature Conservancy site.

Birding eye chart from optical equipment company Zeiss.

Once a gas station, now a bar and restaurant: Exit Zero.

Inside the Filling Station.

The signs for Exit 0 from the New Jersey Garden Parkway to Cape May are so popular that
a google search offers a huge number of interpretations and souvenirs of this iconic sign.
The name of the bar/restaurant is of course a reference to this exit.

At Tony Beef, a hamburger joint near one of the wildlife refuges where we searched for birds.
We saw elaborate Halloween decorations everywhere in Cape May.

Behind the counter at Uncle Billy’s Pancake House.

Beautiful Victorian-Era Homes are also Works of Art

  4. The person who made the bird watching sign has a sense of humor. That filling stion looks wonderful. It has a real good atmosphere. Nice place to hang out. Absolutely love that beach scene mural It is beautiful.
Here in NZ we also have such beautiful Victorian houses. Unfortunately, more and more disappear to make place for the modern ones.

And ZEISS. I sure grew up with this! (The green-eyed male was an optometrist).

I think I would fail that birding eye chart, but it's very quirky.

  10. Hubby and I went to Cape May many moons ago. I think that's where we saw one of those massive owls just chilling in a tree ...
