Today’s Birds

Little Blue Heron on the shoreline near out hotel.

Snowy Egret.

Western Bluebird on our birding tour to San Dieguetio County Park.
The tour leaders reported seeing 40 birds today. I’m not counting but it was a lovely walk.
Despite pessimistic predictions, we enjoyed a pleasant, sunny morning.

Acorn Woodpecker.

A Black Phoebe used a park sign as a base for hunting for small insects.

In the park we also saw a number of blossoming fruit trees.

  2. Hello Mae :=
    The Black Phoebe is such a cute adorable little bird, and not one I see often, and it's my favourite of your fabulous captures.
    All the best.

  3. Hello Mae,
    It is nice to see the pretty blossoms, it is too early here for the Spring blooms. I love all your birds and photos. Pretty captures of the Little Blue Heron and the Snowy Egret. The Bluebird is lovely and the Phoebe is a cutie. I would love to see the Acorn Woodpecker. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend.

  4. I recognize those yellow feet. We have Eastern, not Western, Bluebirds and the Acorn Woodpecker and the Black Phoebe are new to me.

    Lovely photos.

  8. We used to have friends in Sacramento, CA, both considerably older than us, and they are now both gone, but Black Phoebe was Ellen's favourite bird, so much so that we took to calling it Ellen's Phoebe - and it stuck! Miriam and I still refer to it as Ellen's Phoebe.

  9. Cool bird photos - I find them SO hard to photograph - they're either moving or hidden in the branches or too far away. I guess I don't have the patience to wait for the right moment. These are great!

  13. You take excellent photos. You seem to capture the birds close up. Neat colors. I will be going to SoCal in April and hopefully will have good weather then. Your hotel looks to have good views & location.
