Indiana Birds

Surf scoters at Bicentennial Park, Lafayette.

Barn swallows, tree swallows, and rough-winged swallows were
dive bombing the water.

The surf scoters again.


We are visiting Indiana for a long weekend, and have been looking at various birding sites.

    I had never thought vultures are worth watching until recently. We were parked on a bluff watching the sunset and were right at eye level with vultures circling some carrion in the valley below. Watching them soar literally right in front of us was hypnotic. I guess I had only seen the flying overhead before and did not realize how's they seem to float on the air currents.

    Bird-watching is always a treat. I saw my first Indigo Bunting yesterday :) Sweet! I've never seen any of the birds you mention in this post. It's fun to see new ones.
