Almost at the beginning, Gil, the central character and his unlikeable fiancee dine in a fancy Paris restaurant in 2010. |
Gil's trips to the past are always at night, often in clubs and bars. Lots of alcohol, not much to eat. |
At a wine tasting in 2010. Gil's fiancee's friends are wine snobs and every other kind of snob. |
Maxim's famous restaurant in La Belle Epoque. |
It's a charming, heart-warming movie! I love Paris and would love to visit there again so this movie is a great picture of it, one of Woody Allen's best, with a perfect cast for it. I enjoyed your post, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI certainly didnt like the fiancée & her crowd, but admired Gils passion for the great french Belle Epoch. Some very famous Parisienne sights in this movie. Thanks for the memories Mae
ReplyDeleteI hope I can find this movie on Iflix. Thanks for posting upon it
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to contrast how, in the movie, snobbish (and unjustifiedly so) the contemporary people are while the truly gifted are hospitable and open.
