From the breakfast table this morning: a view of the island of Naxos, where we visited soon afterwards. |
 |
Naxos is is a lovely island. It seems much less overdeveloped than Santorini and is thus more pleasant. |
 |
In a farmer’s field not that long ago, the owner discovered this statue. The area was once a marble quarry. The statue is unfinished (probably because the leg was broken) and it was evidently abandoned in the 6th century. |
 |
We visited an olive oil producer, where we tasted olives, oil, and other products. |
 |
Most of the area where we visited was agricultural. |

What a view from your breakfast table. The light is amazing. I love how in these ancient habitated lands people just find statues and walls. Thanks for sharing Mae.Enjoy the next stop. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWhat a journey you are having!
ReplyDeleteYou had a beautiful view during your breakfast.
ReplyDeleteHubby and I enjoy the less touristy places.
Are you bringing home some olive oil.
Take care, have a great day!
That olive tasting would be a dream come true for me! Looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteYummy! (we visited one in Tuscany and came home with sadly way too little, yummiest oil (and wine)).
ReplyDeleteSo interesting to see that unfinished statue!
ReplyDeleteOlives are food from the gods, and since many of the gods lived in Greece, their olives are fabulous, maybe the best. I am a dedicated lover of olives and olive oil. Excess is not even a consideration where olives are concerned! I have never visited Greece but I shall always be grateful for olives and feta cheese. Such a major contribution to the world!
ReplyDeleteWow this is a great post to your trip. The olive place would be my favorite. Those statues on the farmers land, Wow, what a find.
ReplyDeleteOh, those Olives!!!!
