Street Art and a FIre

This interesting mural appears in an unexpected location in Ann Arbor: on the site of a destructive fire that
gutted two businesses last January. I am sharing this mural with Sami's Monday Murals.

The building that was next to the mural is now rubble, left after the fire and demolition of the destroyed structure.
The fire started in a restaurant kitchen at the back of the building. Fortunately, no one was inside.

A few years ago, I belonged to a writers' group that met in the basement of the building which was then a cafe.
I always had a terrible fear of fire that would trap anyone who was sitting at the bottom of a narrow stairway leading down to the basement.

I never saw the mural when the building was standing, but now it's very visible.

The Library Game in Ann Arbor

Advertised widely: the library summer reading game. The truck has the message!

Yard signs throughout the neighborhood show participation in the game.

  3. That mural is absolutely lovely. You did a great job getting a good photo of it, too. I LOVE the names the children chose for their summer reading game. Anything to keep them engaged and reading stories.

  7. Glad no one was hurt in that fire. I have a fear of basements as it would be difficult to get out quickly in case of fire!
The library game sounds like fun and the library truck is very lively too.
A lovely country looking mural, thanks for participating in Monday Murals Mae.

  8. sad about the fire -- I guess the mural is a valiant attempt to make the remains easier to see. The names on the participation signs for your Library's summer game I am afraid will require me to go down an intgernet rabbit hole looking for the rules of a game I will never play (and no doubt wouldn't even if I lived in the library area!). But I applaud anything that brings more kids into the library to actually read a book!
