Happy May Day!
\ |
First not local here; a sign on the Greene Man Pub in England, which I'm including to commemorate today, May Day, and the old May Day customs of Green Men and the many legends about them. We don't have a Green Man in Ann Arbor, but here are some photos I took at the Argus Cafe a few blocks from my house. (source: Wikipedia) |
My coffee at Argus Cafe. |
Sometimes I think a lot of people need one of these signs. |

That last sign with the cat is so true! As a student I worked at a Green Man pub to earn some money to keep me going! I like the coffee / not coffee signs, too! Valerie
ReplyDeleteLove all the signs, the Green Man sign is cool.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a great week.
These are really cute!
ReplyDeleteHappy May!
Happy May Day Mae. And happy T day too. That's an interesting coffee shop you shared. Or should I say drink shop. Have a great week. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteHappy May Day. Mae.
ReplyDeleteCoffee shops can be such lovely places. I had to smile about the cat sign, it seems to be so true.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is my drink of choice, so I really enjoyed this. Nice info on the Greene Man, too.
ReplyDeleteThat cafe is busy. Have you ever made cold brewed coffee? I watched a lady make it and it took nearly three days for it to brew. I need coffee 24/7, so I would have to make six or so of them every day to keep me going. This is a wonderful post and I really enjoyed seeing the cost of coffee where you live. Thanks for sharing the Argus Cafe and that cat with an attitude sign with us for T this almost Tuesday, Mae.
Happy T-day and May Day, Mae. Love that green man picture and your local drink haunt looks fabulous (I would go there often if it was near me). I especially love your coffee funny. Hugz
ReplyDeleteI used to set up a May Pole every year. I miss that :) Happy May Day and Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteHappy May day! I like the coffee/not coffee signs and the kitty. It looks exactly like one of mine, he's a grumpy boy so maybe he needs coffee too lol. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
ReplyDeleteMy Dad was born at Green Man farm, the pub was down the road in Lincolnshire, England. There are lots of pubs with that name. I am fascinated by different representations and hope to return to a church we visited last year with a Green Man trail, looking for them in the church carvings.
ReplyDeleteYour local coffee shop looks amazing, thanks for showing us round. Happy T Day, Chrisx
Love that Green Man sign! And that cat meme! Yep that's me :=)
ReplyDeleteLove the green man and am clearly on the NOT COFFEE side... sadly. But I´m good with the hating, too ;-)
ReplyDeleteI got a good chuckle from the cat signs! Not a coffee drinker but I still get it!
ReplyDeleteLove the Green Man on the sign.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
Oh, I’ve never heard a a Green Man legend on Mayday. Must look that up.
ReplyDeleteFun to see your local cafe.
Belated happy T-Day,
