Lunch with Jeanie and Rick at the Grateful Crow, Chelsea, MI.
The name “Grateful Crow” is a mash-up of the Grateful Dead and the Black Crows, both favorites of the restaurant owner. |
You know Jeanie — she blogs at The Marmelade Gypsy. |
The four of us had lunch together: hamburgers… |
… and sushi — the restaurant’s two specialties. |
The restaurant is decorated with fantastic crow images, roses, and more. |

Hello Mae :=)
ReplyDeleteHow great that you and Jeanie could share a meal together.Lovely photo of you both, in pleasant surroundings with tasteful murals. I specifically like the art deco one of the lady holding the Crow. Those burgers look tasty, and I love chipped potatoes.
All the best.
Wow ! The decorations in that restaurant are magnificent and how fun to meet up with Jeanie from the Marmalade Gypsey- another blog that I enjoy! Enjoyed seeing a pic of your both!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great looking restaurant. I'm glad you could meet up with someone who blogs, that's always fun.
ReplyDeleteI like how your photo shows a TV in the background frozen on the image of someone reading :-)
What a fun restaurant and great to meet up with other bloggers.
ReplyDeleteThis post is murder! A murder of Crows, that is. So nice you and Jeanie could get together. I know I would love that restaurant because I love The Grateful Dead and the Black Crows.
ReplyDeleteLoved the photo of the two of you together. What a fun time to meet a fellow blogger and one I also visit every time Jeanie posts. Even the hamburger looked good and I am not a meat person. Thanks for taking us with you on this meet up.
This looks like great fun -- so glad you & Jeanie had the chance to meet! And I'm also glad to learn of a great new restaurant... one that is literally right up the road from me. (Guess I need to get north of the train tracks once in a while....)
ReplyDeleteThe restaurant looks inviting. I like the signs and the mural. Glad you got to meet up with Jeanie for lunch. Have a wonderful weekend

ReplyDeleteYes :-)
ReplyDeleteI thought, huh, which blog did I click? That´s Jeanie!
Fun times you sure had! :-)
And oh, the Hamburger looks good!
I love crows. We have a fake one on the balcony and the other day a real came to say hello!
Happily, I have met up with bloggers several times in my life, and each time has been a delightful experience. What a perfect spot for you and Jeanie to meet up. What in the world was on the tv? I thought you two lived fairly close and how nice it is that you could meet up and talk books and food and art and all your other common interests.
ReplyDeleteA lovely photo of the two of you, Mae!
How lovely to meet up with Jeanie, and that restaurant looks fantastic, great place to visit. Valerie
ReplyDeleteJeanie mentioned she was going to see you for lunch in one of her comments on my blog. How fun that you were able to get together. It looks like a great place to eat. I'm glad you shared these too. Since my trip fell through at the last minute, I'll share those Golden children's bird book photos on my blog tomorrow so you can see if it's the book you remember. Happy April 2.
ReplyDeleteMy last comment failed, so here I go again. Jeanie had mentioned in a comment on my blog that she was meeting you for lunch. It's fun you could both get together. It looks like a great restaurant also. Since my trip fell through at the last minute I'll post those photos from the Golden children's bird book tomorrow (Monday 4/3) so if you stop by you can see if it's the book you remember. Happy April 2.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic looking place! I would drive there just to see it.
ReplyDeleteAlways fun to meet up with a fellow blogger.
The Grateful Crow looks fabulous. I too enjoy themes in restaurants and remembered one in particular where there was a coyboy manikin in the ladies room and he spoke something and scared the bejeevies out of the women entering.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun is that?!
ReplyDeleteWe hope to get up to Michigan more this summer and hope to look up some of the places you feature on your blog!
ReplyDeleteI guess my comment didn't print, so here goes - I like visiting Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids in Mich. We hope to visit more this summer and hit some of the places in your blog.

ReplyDeleteHow fun to meet with a blog friend! And, what a cool restaurant. Love the artwork!
ReplyDeleteLove those murals here. Great work.
ReplyDeleteInteresting decor!
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of mutual readers! Mae, it was such a great day. I'll be linking to this when I finally get mine posted. (And what WAS on that TV -- I didn't notice!) Your photos of the murals are just fabulous. I was describing this place to friends who often visit Chelsea to see a relative at Silver Maples and they thought it was a must but my description couldn't match your terrific photos. All I can say is next time we'll make sure we have more time to shop after!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to meet up with another blogger! The restaurant looks pretty wild and crazy; glad the food was good.
