An Oasis in the Desert

Cottonwood Spring Oasis at Joshua Tree National Park. We visited on our way back to San Diego on Sunday morning.

A Townsend’s Solitaire was on the ridge above the oasis. We didn’t see many birds.

Now we are back in Michigan with nasty cold rain and occasional sleet, and the desert seems like a mirage.

  6. Simply wonderful photos. You had ideal weather, too. Loved the little floral blossoms and the palm trees that definitely needed pruning.

  10. Hello Mae :=)

    It's amazing how anything can grow in what must be dry gritty soil, but it does, and the young palms and pretty flowers are wonderful to see, and also the tall palms are pretty unusual. I also like your image of the landscape.
    All the best.
