Robert Parker's Jesse Stone

“Sea Change” is a 2007 movie based on one of Robert Parker’s novels featuring police chief Jesse Stone.
While he is a brilliant policeman, Stone has a serious drinking problem.

Tom Selleck is perfect in all of the Jesse Stone movies.

While he works, Stone drinks coffee: lots of coffee.

Jesse Stone’s dog goes wherever he goes, and watches him drinking every evening.

The movie has stunning visuals, as well as the two most wonderful features of Robert Parker’s novels:
fantastic, stylized dialog and several suspenseful plot lines.

  4. I somehow suspect Tom Selleck knows his drinking... I'm still stuck with him in the Magnum, P.I., era, though.

  5. I'm not familiar with these. Is Robert B. Parker the same guy who did the Spenser books?

  7. Hooray, a movie both of us may like. Thank you. (Lately in the evenings we've been sitting on our matching recliners Bill watching something on the "big screen" and me watching something different on my IPAD, both of us with earphones on so we don't disturb each other's chosen show. Nothing like togetherness!)

  8. My husband just watched this over the weekend and was telling me about it. He was particularly interested in telling me about the chairs, one for Tom Selleck and one for his character's dog, and that's how I recognized this. Now I know the title of what he actually watched. Thanks for sharing. And happy T day Mae. hugs-Erika

  11. I don't know this movie and I'm not familiar with Jesse Stone. When I read "Sea Change" I first thought of the Australian TV series SeaChange of 1998...

  13. I've seen every one of the Jesse Stone films. In the final one, Joe (Reggie) had died. Not sure if Joe really died (I realize dogs don't live forever), or they needed to write him out of the series so the new dog could be brought in (which was an integral part of the plot in that film). I agree the visuals are wonderful and I love how you tied his drinking whiskey and coffee to T Tuesday. Thanks for sharing the review a T post.

  16. I must live in a cave as I haven't heard of Parker's Jesse Stone. I was a fan of his Spencer especially as the stories took place in Boston. Many, many, many years ago, Parker was giving a talk at a local bookstore. He was a wonderful speaker and very funny. Happy T Day

    Have a great weekend,
