Outdoor Art on Campus
About the Artist:
"Tatyana Fazlalizadeh is a Brooklyn-based street artist and painter. She is from Oklahoma City, born to a Black mother and Iranian father. Her work is rooted in community engagement and the public sphere. She makes site specific work that considers how people, particularly women, queer folks, and Black and brown people, experience race and gender within their surrounding environments—from the sidewalk, to retail stores, to the church, to the workplace. Fazlalizadeh is the creator of Stop Telling Women to Smile, an international street art series that tackles gender-based street harassment" (source)

Great messages and murals. I like your header photo, or the first image, pretty view of the boathouse. Have a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful post. Tatyana is an amazing artist with true messages. Thank you for sharing her.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Tatyana Fazlalizadeh's message is getting out there. That's one of the benefits of outdoor art, I think...outdoor art is often more visible than art kept in museums.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will take another photo of your house after fall begins there.
The leaves haven't yet started to change or fall from my trees yet. That's not so unusual this time of year though. I love the murals around the campus. I hope the messages hit home for everyone who see them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing some of the work and information aboutTatyana. I love the photo of Gallup Park boathouse.-its captivating.
ReplyDeleteYour house is wonderful looking Mae. It has a great fairy tale feel, although I is probably more tudor style. And I really like how there is art on the buildings. Tatyana Fazlaizadeh is an amazing artist and speaks truths people seem to need reminding of in this anti-abortion climate right now. And I also want to mention how in your comment on my blog, you mentioned how all National Parks seem to offer something different and wonderful, and I agree, that is so true. It is easy to get carried away with one and forget all the beauty and interest of others. Thankfully we have them all. Happy rest of your weekend. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteFascinating post and photos. She sounds like a fascinating woman. We're just starting to see leaves turning...evenings are finally getting cold enough. Hope you have a terrific week and time to curl up with a good book.

I see in the bio that the word black is capatilised, but brown isn't. Is this a common practice in the US?
ReplyDeleteI love the photos. Have a great week!

Lovely artwork and post. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI was able to get some pics of street art this week thanks to your inspiration. And What work you have this week. Love the aerial shot. I live on the 10th floor of my building so I get tons of cool shots like that as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics. Looks like you'll have a lot of color soon. I like the street art you show. Wow bold, love it!
ReplyDeleteI like the photo of your home, I miss sidewalks! Not sure why any place I've lived in the south doesn't have sidewalsk, ok with the exception of when I lived far south in Hollywood.
ReplyDeleteOhhh I love your house!!! Looks like it's on a corner lot? Lovely.
ReplyDeleteGreat, important murals!
ReplyDeleteWell done ones.
And...yes... the leaves change color now here, too...
Lovely Mae...
ReplyDeleteThat first picture looks like something you can use for a Cozy Mystery!!
Take care and have a wonderful week.
