What's Happening Here

Refinishing the dining room table

For ages, Len has been saying he wants to strip and re-stain and polyurethane the dining room table.

Sanding off the old finish.

Second coat of stain.

After drying overnight, it was time to carry the table back in.
Lilikoi came to help! (She also helped move it out.)

Jason and Adam moved it back in for us!

Garden flowers and bugs

Not too much new here. July flowers are not as lush as those in spring.

One more thing: Where did dinosaurs go for lunch?

Source: CNN

I’m glad the dinosaurs didn’t come here for breakfast.
There are still so many disasters happening in the world, I have retreated.
Pretending no wars, no climate change, no starvation, no suffering.

New Yorker cartoon that captures my mood.

  3. That table is lookin' good after its renovation :) Good job!

    The flowers are lovely.

The cartoon is spot on. The people who could do something don't. It's frustrating.

  4. The table looks amazing! And some days is good to focus on less of the things happening in the world and more on what's around us.

  7. Ohhh he did an excellent job on that table with his K-9 helper. The flowers are lovely and thank goodness for the spiders. Interesting about the dinosaurs and funny too.
Hope it isn't too hot where you are. We are cool here on the OR. coast.

  8. I agree with you, sometimes it's just the best to retreat and go away from all the ugliness in the world. Your flowers are beautiful and what a good job on the table. Very cute helper!

  9. Hello Mae, :=) What a good job! The finish on the table looks great, and Lilikol seems to think so too, ...what a happy face, and good little helper. The fuchsia is pretty , and the Dinosaur's foot print was an amazing find. In another life,I think I would have been a happy bunny as an archaeologist, enjoying digging for ancient treasures, or more proof of life billions of years ago.

I switched off some time ago, this heat helps to keep one indoors, but I don't have a TV,and have stopped watching the news on line. Music and blogging keep me happy and occupied.

I'm glad you are chilling out Mae, it relieves stress, and one can just be!:=)
