Day 5 of cross-country driving: we have reached our destination: Arizona! Highlights today included a visit to Sweetwater Wetlands, to Saguaro National Park, and dinner at a Western favorite: In N Out Burger!
Sweetwater Wetlands, Tucson, Arizona
Sweetwater Wetlands combines a water treatment facility and a wildlife habitat. We have enjoyed birding here before, and although we only arrived in the heat of the day, having driven to Tucson from Las Cruces NM in the morning. Nevertheless, we saw several very nice birds.
I hope you have a lovely time here and that you enjoyed the burger.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you are a connoisseur of fine food, and you chose an In-N-Out Burger. Personally, I like Burger King better than these. They definitely won't make me give up my vegetarian ways, but they look marginally better than I remember them. The fries look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI like the bird photos you took, but the squirrel looks like it is sitting posing for you. I love this photo.
The saguaro is a rare phenomenon. I don't know of any other place in the world where these cacti grow. They are beautiful and they should be blooming very soon. I have visited several times around my birthday and they were either in bloom, or just starting to bloom. So good to see Len drinking water in the desert surrounded by saguaro cacti and other plants. Thanks for sharing this memorable post for T this Tuesday, Mae.
Just read your comment about napkins at IKEA. If only there was one within a thousand miles of me (grin).
ReplyDeleteLove the desert and the cacti! Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day, the parks looks great. The Vermilion Flycatcher is beautiful. My hubby would enjoy the burgers. I would like to visit Tucson to do some birding. Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.
What a fun adventure! You are seeing some great wildlife and the burger looks yum! I was born near Las Cruces so you are making me homesick, Mae! Lucky you! Happy T-day and great post! Hugz
ReplyDeleteI love Saguaro NP. It feels so unique, and saguaros are so interesting. Did you watch the film about them at the visitor's center? And we finally got to try an In-N-Out burger place when we were in LA last November. I try not to eat tons of fast food but I do like to try different ones we don't have here in New England. Enjoy your trip Mae. Hugs_Erika
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see these places and would hate leaving each one lol I'm enjoying my virtual travel :) Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to some day do a cross country trip- provided we make lots of stops for rest and to see the sights as we get to a destination:). It all sounds wonderful- enjoy, and happy T day!
ReplyDeleteGreat places you stopped to visit! We were excited to try in and out burger . Maybe we hyped it up too much but we were disappointed... Happy happy T day! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteSO many wonderful animals and beautiful cactuses in the desert. Have fun on your cross-country trip. Sounds like a great experience. And the burger and fries look tasty.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, I so enjoyed joining you on your travels! The parks look amazing and I'd happily join you for a burger, it looks so delicious 😀. Happy T Day! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDeleteLovely travels this week. Happy t day!
ReplyDeleteSaguaro National Park is one of my favorite national parks, I never get tired of it. Continue to enjoy your time!
ReplyDeleteArizona is one of our favourite stated, so many beautiful things to see and hike. Saguaro National Park is incredible. It’s getting mighty hot down there. Never understood the draw of the In-Out burger but then again, I’m not a fast food fan in general.

You've had some wonderful sightings on these! I haven't been to AZ in ages and not to this part of it. So keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteOh, I haven´t had a burger in ages, yum!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of that burger place but it sounds nice and has the same colours as that other burger place M
