Library Shelfie Day

A bookcase in my living room.

A very new celebratory day: Library Shelfie Day. Today for the seventh year, on the fourth Wednesday in January, is a day to celebrate your library shelves with a photo. You can celebrate your Kindle too. When I read about this obscure celebration, I couldn’t resist!

My Kindle bookshelf showing most recently read books.

A corner of my bookcase featuring a recently-purchased reprint of a book by Edouard de Pomiane
which I hope to read soon, and other books by or about this author, some in their early-20th-century editions.

  1. You have an interesting collection of books. I am always nosy about what other people have on the shelf.

  2. Fun! Hadn't heard about this, but like the idea. The only physical books we have left are some cookbooks -- reading most things on my phone these days (often using the Libby app so I can borrow books from my library). Neat post -- thanks.

  3. What a wonderful idea! I've gutted my shelves as I try to downsize, so mine wouldn't make the statement they used to.

  4. I have never heard of this either. Love your books and the statue.

  5. My library shelves need to be reorganized and books need to be off the ground. I gave away over half of my books over the past two months, so much so the library and senior center stopped accepting donations from its donors. No space! I don't mind as I get to keep the rest of the books without feeling guilty!

  12. How neat is this~ I've never heard of Library Shelfie Day and am surprised neither of the libraries where I have cards did not seem to mention it (I get emails from the Oregon one which I use even while we're here in Florida, thanks to Kindle E-Books that I borrow.... I see a Louise Erdrich book on your shelf that I don't remember reading. Off to look that one up! Thank you.

  13. Well hello again -- it didn't take long to discover the obvious reason why I don't remember "The Sentence." I didn't realize she had a new book out. This one sounds quite different from her usual! My Library has a six-month long wait list for the Kindle edition -- I put it on my wish list.
