First Night of Chanukah

Chanukah this year begins during Thanksgiving weekend. We actually advanced the celebration a little
to enjoy it before Miriam and Alice headed back to college.

Frying the latkes — that is, potato pancakes.
These are the traditional Chanukah food in our tradition.
There’s also a tradition of eating jelly donuts.

We ate the latkes with leftover duck from Thanksgiving.
We also drank wine, and filtered water.

  1. I have some friends who start their Chanukah with latkes. I love them, too. Really like what you did with your photos. I bet that's an app.

  4. I love latkes and haven't had them in years. Now if you offer me a plateful and a jelly donut too, I might be by your house. Smile. It would be a long long drive I think. I hope you have a great Hanukkah and week ahead. Hugs-Erika

  6. We just had latkes, well we call them different and I had no idea it was also your traditional food for the season.
If there were Christmas Markets you could get them with all sorts of toppings, hmmmm.
