Spring? Perhaps.

New photos from an afternoon walk:

Much of the ice has melted at Ford Lake.

The red-winged blackbirds have just returned from their winter habitat, which may be as far as
800 miles from here. Seeing them and hearing their song is a real sign of spring!

  3. Spring seems to be showing its head in your world right now. I hope it continues that way. Even the birds are starting to sing, at least it seems that way when I saw the blackbird.

  5. The beginning signs of Spring :) I've seen red-winged blackbirds out in the country along highways but never in the city. What a treat!

  6. What lovely pictures :) We went for a walk a couple of days ago and spotted daffodiles, primroses, daisies, cherry trees in bloom (and other trees), snowdrops, dandelions... All at the same time, that's weird, but pretty to look at.

  7. Those snow drop flowers were my mom’s favourites you’ve inspired me to plant some around her tree next year.
You have to be very careful of those black birds, they’ve attacked many people just walking by in High Park, Toronto.

  8. Normally, our area would be abloom, but the harsh freeze killed or knocked back everything.

  13. So many signs of spring here. We are a little behind you, but getting there. Much of our snow is melting and warmer weather is on the way. Red-winged Blackbirds have been here for about a week and I am keeping a close eye out for the first Killdeer. It's a great time of the year.

  15. Mae,
I always loved seeing the very fist flowers peeking their heads through just before spring. It used to be the crocus and my mint. Both seemed to want to pop up despite the cold weather. I miss that in Florida but I am enjoying the nice warm beach weather. Your photos from your walk of the birds are lovely.
