Food, Wine, Distance

Distanced get-together with individually portioned quiche and cornbread.
Adam at his table. Jason and Katrina at their table. Front: our table.

New "Birding" t-shirt.
Another day, a different visitor for lunch on the patio.
Social distancing on our friend Abby's deck.

A Few Things We Cooked Recently

Broccoli salad. Mushrooms ready to be made into pasta.
Broiled tofu, broccoli, and carrots.
Egg salad, stuffed grape leaves, hummus.
Red lentil and sweet potato curry. Recipe from Cooking Light (link).
I used green onions instead of red onions in the garnish.
Eggplant with tomatoes —- Matbucha (link). Bulgar wheat Mejadra with green lentils and onions. (link)
Local peaches whenever we can get them!
Finally, we managed to toast some marshmallows.

Where I feel safe shopping

The Produce Station: local fruit and vegetables.

Our Only Recent Take-Out

Pick-up from picnic table outside the sushi shop.
Sushi Town has never had indoor tables, always has been a take-out place.
Sushi rolls.

Wine!

A particularly nice wine from 1990.

Lockdown: Days of Wine and Goldfish.

  3. It's early for me, and yet, I'm starving after seeing all the food you prepare each week. I am totally amazed. You eat SO well and everything looks so lovely. That market where you shop looks so different from what I remember at our regular grocery stores. Thankfully, my friend Scott shops for me, so I don't have to.

Wow, you finally did take out. Now I might even venture out, too.

  8. Mae,
I'm so glad you have found a market that you feel safe shopping. It would be so sad to miss all the summer farmer's market produce! Your yard is beautiful and a perfect haven to enjoy at home!

  10. Looks like a nice evening with so much yummy food! I pick where I shop too, and when I go. Trying to keep to the fewest people possible. And I've only gotten together socially distanced outside too. Looks like you had a good time!

  11. Nice week of food. We aren't entertaining or going to anyone's house ... even with outside distancing, but so glad you found a way to see people and still feel safe.
