Iris Season

Irises by Claude Monet (Wikipedia)
Irises by Vincent Van Gogh (Wikipedia)
Irises in bloom everywhere in my neighborhood made me think of these famous paintings by Van Gogh and Monet. During my childhood, we had a large bed of standard purple iris along one edge of our yard, and I loved seeing the blossoms every year.

  6. You photographed some incredible irises. NONE of mine bloomed this year. I was heart broken. Are these all yours? They are certainly stunning.

  7. My iris photos are from all around my neighborhood, but not in my own yard. In fact, much as I love them, I've never succeeded in planting irises!... mae

  11. We planted several varieties of iris a few years ago. Some are early bloomers and others bloom late, so we enjoy them for quite a while.

  12. Irises are incredibly beautiful. I miss the more vibrant flower varietes from Pennsylvania and Michigan. When I went to purchase a forsythia bush the nursery warned me it wouldn't blossom as well here.
