Sun and Moon

Sunset over the Causeway, Rockport, Texas, Sunday.
Monday morning: as we left the dock on our birdwatching boat, the moon was high in the sky.
Opposite the moon, the sun was just beginning to rise.

Shorebirds in the mudflats.

Kevin, the boat captain, looking over the wetlands.
A shorebird lit by the rising sun.
A pair of caracaras -- birds of prey. We saw beautiful birds during the five-and-a-half hour boat ride.
A whooping crane, one of three that spent the summer here. 400 more are soon expected to migrate into the area for winter.
Two cranes. Below the left one is an egret. Whooping cranes were almost extinct, and the flock that winters here includes
the majority of those that survive.

  1. Fabulous cloud formations in those sunsets. And I'm so impressed with the flying bird photos. I think that's the hardest thing to capture!
