In my Kitchen This Weekend

Whole Foods had a sale on Whole Snappers, so that's what we had for dinner last night.
After filling it with aromatics and wrapping it with lettuce leaves, I roasted
it for around 30 minutes, then removed the fillets and served it...
We enjoyed eating it, too, with white wine, boiled potatoes, bread & butter, and salad.
Meanwhile, I've been trying to reduce the clutter in the pantry, especially on the floor.
There's still quite a lot of stuff there, but not as much as before my project.
(What looks like a brown stripe on the wall is actually the shadow from the camera's flash.)

  1. I wonder what I have to do to get a Whole Foods in my neck of the woods. The fish departments in the grocery stores around here are just awful!!!

Your Snapper looks so yummy, Mae, I could jump through the screen!

As for that pantry, lol, you should see mine. Marion just doesn't know when to stop not to mention the amounts of processed stuff she buys. No big deal, I don't eat it but I do have to cook it! She should only know how much I give to the food bank and the pantry is still full!!!

Thanks for sharing, Mae...I just may be dreaming about your snapper tonight. Ironically, I posted February's calendar tonight and included a recipe for Red Snapper, lol...

  2. Hi Louise,
Whole Foods seems very picky about where they open, but I hope they decide to open one near you. I really like their fish counter, as they have good fresh fish and high standards for sustainability and heath issues.

I'll be looking at your calendar!... mae

  4. I'd love to have a Whole Foods store near me. They'd never get rid of me.

I know what you mean about a tidy pantry. Mine is always a mess. I need to take a page from your book and get mine organized.

Thanks for being part of In My Kitchen!

  6. When you figure out how to organize and declutter the pantry, please let me know!

  7. Deborah -- To organize/declutter whatever I always start the same way. I EMPTY everything out of the space to be cleared -- in this case I did it one or two shelves at a time up to the level I wanted. I clean the empty space -- in this case, I scrubbed the shelves and the floor. Then I only put back the good stuff -- in this case I practically filled up my garbage can, and have a few things to give to thrift shops or wherever. It makes you look at everything. Not fun!

  8. There must be declutter vibes in the air, though you tackled a big space while I only worked on a few small drawers. The snapper sounds scrumptious - did you use lettuce wraps to keep it moist?

  9. How would you like to come to my place and organise my pantry... or my entire kitchen? I'll bake a cake and and put on a nice pot of tea for when you get here? Seriously though, I have pantry envy.

  15. The whole snapper looks great, I'm always a bit scared to cook a whole fish because of the bones but I really should try. I've just had a new pantry build so I'm hoping that it stays tidy for at least a little while - I've managed to fill it to the brim already though!

  16. Mae, thanks so much for stopping by my blog G'day Souffle.'Baking Whole Snapper is one of my favourite dishes, however it is not easy to find whole fish for sale in the U.S. I've never tried Whole Foods before, sounds like maybe I'll find some there!
