I have it!

I'm really glad I ordered this book! The story of Fernand Point is told almost as if it were a fable. How he treated his customers, teased his employees, turned away people he didn't want to serve... all the things that seem too legendary to be real. Idolatry with pen-and-ink drawings. It's marvelous.

Quotations from the Great Man:
  • "Silence is golden," they say -- and yet, cuisine, one must speak of that!
  • La grande cuisine must not wait for the guest; it is the guest who must wait for la grande cuisine.
  • A good cuisinier never dirties his apron outside his work.
