I knew some of the Simca background from reading the Prudhomme book but this adds to it. The tart recipe looks good and what a great hint about the mustard and cheese. I may have to try that one!Jeaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17482528482559445943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37695777.post-91925825314640029892015-07-25T08:05:47.489-04:002015-07-25T08:05:47.489-04:00Sounds interesting even for someone like me who ju...Sounds interesting even for someone like me who just can't seem to get enthusiastic about cooking. Amazing how they agreed to build a house on Simca's land and it was all done on a handshake deal that was totally honoured - you don't hear of many people doing business like that any more. I do love the sound of the tart xxCharlie Louiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14385697981855525832noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37695777.post-85350361961253825792015-07-22T10:16:15.086-04:002015-07-22T10:16:15.086-04:00I've been meaning to track down a copy of Juli...I've been meaning to track down a copy of Julia Child's book for ages, but Simca's tartlets sound delicious. The parts of the movie about her life were fun, but very limited. (The parts of the movie about the pathetic little imitator I won't discuss). Her cookbooks are really worth using, though I think few people bother any more. Her work really fits into the theme of Paris.Mae Travelshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13328946930935633113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37695777.post-78033083053966002092015-07-22T07:17:05.635-04:002015-07-22T07:17:05.635-04:00Mae, I haven't read any of Julia's books -...Mae, I haven't read any of Julia's books - but I loved the movie. From what you've said, and what I've taken in before - Julia seems a character, almost larger than life. For a woman of her era, she was a change maker wasn't she?
